My passion lies in helping women (and men too) grow older in the best way possible for them.

Life from 50 forward can be a challenge especially for women, because most of us will be affected by outside forces we have less control over than we often would like. These range from divorce to death of loved ones to care of aging parents to unexpected financial pressures.

I believe it is crucial to strengthen our ability to flourish as we age, by making good choices and doing things actively for our own self care.  Life should be about pleasure and fulfillment as well as responsibility.  If not now...when?

As a writing and literature teacher, humanistic  psychotherapist, and coach over my long career, I have met many women making all kinds of transitions and facing all kinds of issues in daily life.

I believe very strongly that fostering our natural human creativity in thought and expression is one key way we can navigate the changes that come with aging and go full-sail into the sunset.

I believe that having enough healthy relationships is also crucial for well-being at every stage of life, and particularly as we grow older.

I believe that maintaining interests, whether in gardening or knitting or sculpting or tai chi or whatever, as well as developing new interests to expand our horizons, can keep us alert and ageless.

I believe that staying engaged with our communities, which can encompass many groups, contributes greatly to life satisfaction and even longevity.

These beliefs are all backed by serious research, by the way.

There are times when these activities are harder to initiate or hold onto.  That's when the right kind of knowledge and support can make the difference between a downward spiral and an upward one.

Hats off to all you ladies reading this.  I feel privileged to be able to talk with you here and offer you my support throughout the life span up to this last frontier.

As for me, I am well over the AARP's 50 (smile), married, with grown children and several young grandchildren.  I live just north of New York City in Westchester County.
